Char Stiles is a multidisciplinary digital artist. She works using emerging technologies as tools for expression. Using computational systems and algorithms she is producing pieces that spans disciplines such as video, dance, interactive installation, performance and online works. Currently, she is at the Recurse Center researching the intersection of art and email protocol and teaching workshops on shaders. Previously she she was a creative-in-residence at the Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry. She has received awards from the Carnegie Museum of Art, exhibited internationally and talked and gave workshops at Carnegie Mellon University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and New York University.
She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Computer Science and Fine Art and a minor in media design, spending her time between New York City and Pittsburgh. Her portfolio is CharStiles.com and she is on social media as @CharStiles.
